The Journey Begins

We departed our home of 21+ years on April 3rd and drove to Richmond to visit the kids, drop off our car and continue to make life-without-a-home arrangements. We arrived with still more items from the house that we feel we “can’t live without” — check with us at the end and we shall see if that holds true. It seems our home was like a Tardis, bigger and fuller on the inside, where items just kept coming and coming.

Once unpacked we enjoyed the beauty that seems nothing can hold a candle to — Spring in Virginia — with Mack & Henry. We also attempted to acclimate Benny (the cat) to his new surroundings. Joke is on us, that bag of bones (13yrs, age of Moses in human years) decided to take off for the night which turned into 4 nights of worry before he found himself back on the porch waiting for a meal and cuddle, ok just a meal, he has never been a cuddling kind.

Morning of departure we congregated with the kids on the porch. Champagne was popped, tears were shed and our gratitude to our kids for their support extolled. Truly, without the support and love of our kids the crazy life choice we have made would probably not be as possible.

With roadie in hand the kids dropped us off at the Richmond Amtrak station. Our flight to Miami the next day was departing from Washington National, which afforded us the opportunity to stay the night with good friends in Alexandria. That was a great treat. Love you K & D.
